What inspired you to start your business? I had been working as a display artist for a large company, and while that job was exciting and an excellent learning experience, it was also sucking up all of my creativity and energy. This morning I popped out of bed at 6:00 eager to get going because I was off to a special session of the Friday Meetups with a Charlotte local fiber artist group - CLTextile. This special early morning meetup was to film for the segment Wilson's World on WCCB Charlotte.
Wilson, who hosts the morning show, chatted with Kathie, who runs the CLTextile group, and Val, who organized Wilson coming to the Friday meetup!
Wilson made the joke that to be part of the CLTextile group, which he compared to a biker gang, you have to get a tattoo. Well, I happen to have a needle and thread tattoo! Self-named "yarn enthusiast" Amy Reader is completing her undergraduate degree in fine arts at the University of Richmond with the "100 Women Project." For her senior exhibition, she is asking women from around the world to contribute a small piece of art - namely, a crocheted wisteria vine - in order to create a large art installation.
