During the workshop, participants will learn two basic methods for creating standing wool coils and how to join them together.
This educational workshop will touch on the history of standing wool and how the technique was lost. Standing wool was a texture technique that was used in the 1700 and 1800s to create warm, thrifty rugs, but fell out of use after the Industrial Revolution because it was a slow, hand-stitched process that could not be recreated by a machine. This workshop will highlight the re-emergence of the technique in recent years and show the variety of work that can be created with it.
Participants will leave with their own small standing wool creation.
All materials will be provided.
